Immersive Design
I have been working in Europe for 2 weeks, and got a chance to add some vacation at the back end, so I went to Paris to visit a friend and see some new interesting exhibits. My friend recommended I go to Atelier Des Lumieres ( https://www.atelier-lumieres.com/en/home ) which recently opened and defines its mission as “art, music, immersive, experience”. When I saw those words projected on the wall, I knew I had come to the perfect place for a IS< grad student fascinated in designing learning games. The facility is a former massive iron foundry built in the early 1800’s. Its multi-level floor space has been newly re-configured for immersive digital arts experiences. This show had several film projections. The first was based on Van Gogh’s various paintings, from his early work in the country, to early portraits and family scenes, to his nature paintings of sunflowers and lilies to Starry Night and scenes in Paris, and his own self-portraits.
